Alone in the Dark, the movie based on the video game, has the dubious distinction of not getting a single positive review on RottenTomatoes.com. Poor Christian Slater's career looks... well, we have to find his career first.

AgencyFAQs is an example of why most advertising people still shouldn't be allowed to design web sites. (I'm not talking about you, Chandru!) It absolutely sucks! Look at the blink-blink all over the place and the directionless design. Gimme a few hours and I would organise the entire thing properly. (They spam you liberally too, so don't sign up for any of their newsletters.)

Chronicled Life: Platonic Marriage - Tan has a friend who's been married for two years but hasn't had sex with her husband yet. Advice?
Yahoo is selling domain names for only $5. Now that's cheap. All you blogspot people have no excuse to not buy your own domain name. (Technically it's $4.98 but that got modified by my "don't give a shit" filter)
(Update: Not everyone is happy with Yahoo.)
Have Indians really lost a taste for good things?: Chetan is bitching about my "best design" Indibloggies award. Somebody please tell him that this was about design, not validating markup, and that a bunch of unescaped ampersands aren't that big a deal in the whole scheme of things. Lots of validating sites look like crap.
TextDrive, a well-known hosting company, are now disallowing mt-comments.cgi on their servers because of a serious Movable Type bug that allows spammers to use the executable to send spam through your domain. I think I will be migrating to some other tool soon. [Update: 6A have released a patch. All sites I manage (you know who you are) will be patched in another 10 minutes have been patched.]
The IndiBlog Awards Winners have been announced. Look ma! I won two awards - best topical weblog and best design. Yay! But ain't it cruel that my "best designed weblog" award has no prize while freakin' Ravikiran wins something for just having "best tagline"? I'm going to sulk now.
Gun Rights in Modern India: "I live in India and I am a proud firearm owner - but I am the exception not the norm .... This is not because the people of India are averse to gun ownership, but instead due to Draconian anti-gun legislation going back to colonial times."
The Fascination of Fat: "Inside the Queen St. E. restaurant, chef James McKinnon is grilling two 8-ounce cheese-slathered beef patties, four slices of bacon, and frying an egg. No, it's not a meal for four. It's the ingredients of his Coronary Burger .... Dangerous Dan's owner James McKinnon created the Coronary Burger after his dad's heart attack. It was meant as a joke but now he sells 50 a week."
Sepia Mutiny reports that some Christian missionaries are offering aid to tsunami victims only if they convert first. Can somebody please nail these people to a fucking cross and toss them into the sea?
"He wasn't just clueless about this or that. His cluelessness was all encompassing. He was clueless about foreign policy, military strategy, domestic development - you name it and he is the greatest screw-up that India has ever produced."
- Atanu Dey on Nehru and the Indian Economy.
Want to kill your email spam? Using a combination of POPFile on the desktop and SpamAssassin on the server has ensured that I don't need to see any of the numerous spam messages I get every day. And it classifies IndiaSlimes mail as spam, which is just wonderful. ;)

The Raving Atheist: Watch as the fella called "schemanista" attempts to provide a detailed explanation of evolution to the Creationist in denial. The science guy attempts to fight with logic and reason, but the other doofus just doesn't want to listen. You'll hear the standard "missing link", "random mutation", "macro-evolution v/s micro-evolution" etc. arguments as usual.

The Indibloggies awards have run into some hiccups and Debashish, the organiser, is getting heckled by the crowd. :) (Update: Oh, the list is finally up, and look, both my blogs are nominated for best design. Vote for me! Nitpick: AnarCapLib should be called a "group blog".)

Essential Fonts For Designers - 300 Free Truetype Fonts You Should Have. Nice!!! (Update: Their site is not up any more, probably as a result of someone sending them a legal notice for their outright copyright violation.)
Networks fooled by fake tsunami pictures. So what else is new? I think it's time they bought a book like this to get a few more clues.
(Update: To all the nice people coming in from a Google search, I don't have any fake pics with me. Perhaps the Google ad on this page will show something more relevant.)
Six Apart to buy Live Journal, says Om Malik. If the rumour is true (update: it's confirmed), it is easily one of the most asinine business deals of the new year. I'll only write a longer piece if the report is confirmed. Also see a discussion on Metafilter about this.
HP to launch TVs, media hubs: What can I say... more Carly Fiorina-sponsored corporate devastation.

The Republic of Cascadia: "Now is the time for the citizens of Cascadia to demand their freedom from the oppressive governments of Canada and the United States. For too long have our people put up with indifference and condescendence from distant seats of power."
